![]() | Shing Drup (Buddha Amitabha Puja) has become an annual event in Shawagar, Kheng Khomshar; a congregation where young and old both actively take part. The annual Lord Amitabha puja is led by the abbot, teachers and the monks of Dongag Woesel Dargayling. The purpose of this sacrosanct puja is meant for liberation from the ‘Samsaric existence’, whereby one would attain an immediate rebirth in the ‘blissful land of happiness’ or the ‘abode of Lord Amitabha’, and eventually attain further enlightenment- 'Nirvana'. 'Shing Drup' was initiated by Late Khenpo Wangchuck Sonam, and after his demise was entrusted upon Lopen Thubtan to further propagate and spread virtues of 'Shing Drup'. 'Shing Drup' is now being held in Bardo Gewog, Kikhar (zhemgang) and Tsho Tshacha (Punakha) as an annual event. It's held once in Thimphu and Samtse (Southern Bhutan). Shing Drup was also held at Sherubtse College (Eastern Bhutan) from '21st - 24th Feb, 2012'. It's organized by the college students, and many devotees attend the sacrosanct puja.
